Please read through our answers to what have been the main questions asked by clients over the years Mood Music has been in operation.
How long has the band been together?
Mood Music have been together for 10 years, and many of the band members have been performing at weddings and parties for as long as 30 years.
How does payment work for the musicians?
A non-refundable deposit is taken at the contract signing to hold your date. The balance is due a week before the event via cash, internet banking, Stripe or cheque.
How many breaks do the musicians take?
Usually 45 minutes of playing followed by a 15-minute break. Dinner breaks are about 20 minutes, typically during speeches. Background music can be played during breaks.
What do the musicians wear at the reception?
The band dresses formally or in classy black with ties, depending on the event.
What time do the musicians arrive on the day of the function?
They arrive at the venue’s service entrance 1–2 hours before guests arrive and store equipment out of sight.
What songs will the band play?
Clients may choose from the band’s master list, suggest two custom songs, and provide style preferences. Extra custom songs cost $50–$100 each.
Will there be enough room for the band?
The band can perform in small spaces or on large stages. Space needs should be discussed with the venue in advance.
Is the band covered under an insurance policy?
Yes, including liability and medical. Electrical equipment is also legally tagged.
Are the band members we see going to be the musicians we get?
The group typically plays with the same members, but rehearsed substitutes may be used if needed.
What if a band member gets sick?
A talented substitute will fill in if a member becomes ill.
What if we cancel the wedding/function?
Deposits are non-refundable. If cancelled with less than 7 days’ notice, the full fee is due.
How will I make my final arrangements?
A personal meeting can be arranged about a month before the event, with a follow-up the week prior.
Do I have to feed the musicians?
Light meals are required for bookings of 3 hours. Substantial meals are appreciated for 4-hour or longer jobs, accounting for set-up and pack-down time.
Do you play recorded music?
Yes, music is played via iPod during breaks. Song requests can be accommodated.
Will the band be too loud?
Volume is adjusted based on the event—softer during dinner, louder for dancing. Feedback on volume is welcome.
Can one of my guests get up and sing or play with the band?
Yes, if notified in advance so the band can prepare appropriately.
